If you enjoy reading Agatha Christy’s series of murder mysteries with Henri Poirot, you’ll love the new murder mystery series by Larry Vardiman with Maurice Bordeau. He’s a French detective who teaches his technique for catching murderers using French Logique. It’s a method of putting yourself in the shoes of a murderer and asking, what would I do if I were him?
Bordeau is a short, dapper, middle-aged Frenchman who dresses to perfection; carries a cane; wears a bowler hat; and sports an emmaculately-trimmed goatee. He travels first class, enjoys fine food, and stays in five-star hotels when on assignment. His close friend and colleague, Anthony Bristol, retired from Her Majesty’s Fussiliers, accompanys him and assists as needed.
Inspector Bordeau has made a career of teaching promising officers how to improve their investigative skills using French Logique at the New Scotland Yard in London. Aspiring detectives have attended his year-long class from all over the world. Many have called on him to travel and assist in solving an especially-difficult case in their home territory.
After many years of teaching in England Bordeau has taken a sabbatical and booked a voyage with Bristol to America to see the New World. They travel by Amtrak on a grand-circle tour around the U.S. to exotic locations. Because so many of Bordeau’s former students were from America he’s invited to stop and help solve mysteries as they travel.
The Maurice Bordeau Murder Series contains 12 stories in cities as diverse as New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, Coeur d’Alene, Chicago, New York, St. Louis, Denver, San Francisco, Honolulu, San Diego, and Grand Canyon. Bordeau and Bristol confront global warming, habitats on the Moon, professors denied tenure, death in senior centers, capitalism versus socialism, globalism versus nationalism, Antifa’s hatred of Christianty, euthanasia and abortion, the radical left and right working together, China moving to capture Pearl Habor, Jihadists attempting to bomb LA, and death in Grand Canyon.
Follow along as Bordeau and Bristol solve contemporary murders in America, view scenery along the best Amtrak routes, and eat some of the best food available. Here’s a link to my first book – Green Bayous.
